Scratch Games
|
This scratch game is called Catch the Dots. This is one of the projects that I followed a tutorial to create. (The tutorial can be found here) I made a couple changes to the program to make it a little easier. For instance, I did not add an "interval" variable like they said, because I noticed that it made the game harder. I also added two powerups and created a code line to make sure that two dots never come down at the exact same time in the exact same place.
This tutorial helped me to gain a better understanding of how variables can help make your project better. The main frustrating part of this project was trying to make it easier. |
This project is a free roam world, also created with a tutorial. (Tutorial is here) In this game, the goal is to get the treasure without being caught by the enemy players. The changes I made to this include a faster player, an optional powerup that allows you to move superfast and (slowly) go through walls. I also made a few secret keys that allow you to travel at the speed of light and zoom straight through walls, just because I was tired of testing the game and moving at slow speeds.
This project really helped me out with doors! I hadn't exactly thought of using doors yet, so this gave me inspiration to create my own game, which is seen below. |

Finally, my favorite project! This is called Escape, and was created entirely by me. The object of the game is to escape the creepy house. In it, you can collect items, fight evil red things, and go through magic doors. I won't spoil it anymore, so go play it now! I may also update this and make it even cooler than it is now!
I got pretty frustrated in this project because I had no tutorial to guide me and therefore had no idea what bugs I had to work out. The main problem I had was that one of my scripts messed up my whole project so that the green flag didn't trigger any of the scripts, making almost everything unusable. I finally figured it out though, after I moved the broken script to a new area. |
